Always & Forever: Elijah Wood

We must start things off big with Elijah’s appearance at the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival. This was his third time attending in the past 25 years, but it wasn’t for a film. He was there to honor Sir Peter Jackson with the Honorary Palme d’Or Award during the festival’s opening night festivities. There are many photos from the event, so they’ve been split into three sections. First, photos from the red carpet. Next are images from the award ceremony,  and lastly, some pictures from his time there.

There are also festival videos, starting with Elijah’s introduction and Peter’s acceptance speech during the award ceremony, available here, and there are a handful of short videos, mostly from the red carpet. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

Just before Peter’s in-depth conversation discussing his career, Elijah and Mette-Marie tried to arrive undetected but, happily, didn’t succeed. A discerning ear can clearly recognize Elijah’s distinctive laugh early in Pete’s video.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is now streaming on platforms such as Amazon Prime and Apple TV, and the productions section now includes screencaps and behind-the-scenes images from the movie. The DVD Blu-ray comes out on June 16th with some good bonus features, such as this, which makes me very happy!

This also makes me happy. Elijah has been nominated as Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series at the Astra TV Awards (formerly Hollywood Critics Association) for his portrayal of an exaggerated version of himself in the HBO series I Love LA. The show picked up a total of six nominations. Congratulations to the real man for a role well done!

Elijah took us along on his visit to the Criterion Closet, where he picked out some of his favorite DVD releases and shared them with us.

LOTR aficionado and major late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert bade a fond farewell on his last show on May 21st with a big lineup of guests, one of whom was Elijah, in a blink-and-you-miss-him peek lasting literally two seconds. Many celebrities were in the audience, including Elijah, Mette-Marie, and Peter Jackson. If that wasn’t enough, even more showed up to the show’s star-studded wrap party.

There is an extended version of Elijah’s discussion with Stephen from his March appearance on Spotify, which includes a surprising discovery that I had never heard before, that didn’t air.

The Alamo Drafthouse has released its LOTR “live” discussion from the trilogy’s 20th anniversary, in which Stephen had a Q&A with the cast. The three-part discussion is divided into The Fellowship of the Ring with Elijah, Sean, Billy, and Dom, The Two Towers featuring Cate, Viggo, Liv, and Orlando, and The Return of the King with Peter, Ian, and Andy.

With one convention just completed, and the gang taking flight to the next, the cons in Philadelphia, Denver, and Wooden Wisdom’s gig there will be covered next month. But there is an edited video from the boys’ time in Calgary that includes their Harry Potter scene.

And finally, there is some exciting casting news. Elijah will be in the third season of the drama series, Paradise, which airs on Hulu. The creator let it be known by posting this image. Reports state that it will be the show’s last season and that it is expected to premiere sometime in 2027. For now, it is rumored that his role will play a major part.

I love stumbling upon videos I’ve never seen, and this Video of the Month pick is just that. Enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at one of Elijah’s earlier films that rarely gets recognition, Paradise from 1991.

That’s all… for now.
