Bookworm had its world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal and there’s a lot that came from it. To begin, check out the photos from the event.
There are also a handful of interviews with Elijah, Ant Timpson, and Nell Fisher on the festival’s red carpet and in the media. [Elijah and Ant] [Elijah] [Elijah, Nell and Ant] [Elijah] [Elijah and Nell] [Print-Ant and Elijah] [Favorite Family Films]
Bookworm presented its official website, with promotional images, information, and a fun and creative competition. Here are a few images not on the site [1] [2] [3] [4] and some teaser clips from the film. [I Know You] [Is This Your Card?] [How’s School?] [Telling It Like It Is]
And what have the reviews been like so far on Bookworm? Currently, it’s sitting pretty at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and here’s a video review that have some minor spoilers. Bookworm opens in theaters across New Zealand on August 8th, and hopefully, more cinemas across the continents in the coming months.
Just before heading to Montreal, Elijah made an appearance at Comic Con Colombia, and you can check out his Q&A.
There are some exciting developments with SpectreVision. They announced that they have branched out into a new venture, SpectreVision Radio, which will play host to several podcasts.
One of those podcasts, The Spiel (all things Steven Spielberg), has an interesting talk with Elijah as their guest.
And, of course, SpectreVision’s own podcast, Visitations, kicked off its new season with the multi-talented Boots Riley, who, if you recall, created the Amazon series, I’m A Virgo, in which Elijah had a cameo.
Now, on to an unbelievable update. We’ve been waiting for nearly a year to hear when The Toxic Avenger will be widely seen past the trailer and the film festival circuit, like Fantastic Fest and Sitges Film Festival. Now, a report has come that the movie is deemed “un-releaseable,” which is such a crock! I’ve seen my fair share of WTF films where I wondered who would put this out. But this one can’t be released? C’mon now! Hopefully, this is some kind of ploy to build up some buzz, and the film will be seen either in theaters or at least on streaming platforms.
Elijah was spotted in several cities like Buffalo and Detroit, visiting a friend’s art show in New York and taking in a local bagel shop while in Montreal.
More conventions have been announced since the last recap, so check them out!
Taking a bit of a sidestep, Elijah’s good buddies, Billy and Dominic, are about to start their new project, Billy and Dom Eat The World, which was a staple on their podcast, The Friendship Onion, and it looks amazing!
Speaking of friends, it’s hard to believe that in August 1999, Elijah, Billy, Sean, and Dominic first met each other to begin work on The Lord of the Rings. Now, 25 years later, they are still the best of friends. To celebrate this anniversary, the Video of the Month, which I had a blast editing for August, takes a look at what their friendship has been throughout the years.
That’s all… for now.
