Let’s get this started with Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which had its world premiere at SXSW, and there are a ton of images from the red carpet, after party, and photoshoots from the festival.
The photo session was such a thing, I’ve added it to the photoshoot page.
There’s plenty of video footage as well, starting with the red carpet arrivals. And yet another.
Just to name a few, the number of interviews from SXSW is insane! We’ve got Rolling Stone, Straw Hat Goofy, CBR, Screen Rant, and some red carpet interviews from the cast and crew. [1] [2] [3]
Elijah, Sarah, and Kathryn hit the promotional trail in New York City, appearing on several talk shows and a screening just prior to the film’s national theatrical release.
Let’s jump into said talk shows. It’s been a long time since Elijah appeared on one to promote a film, but he came back with vengeance. Some are traditional, like Late Night with Stephen Colbert [PART 2], Good Morning America, and Drew Barrymore [PART 2], while others are more amusing. Here’s an on-the-street interview with Kathryn, as well as interviews Elijah gave that are not directly related to the film. Check out YouTube channels of Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meal, which is over an hour long, and the hilarious Brittany Broski’s Royal Court.
After a brief hiatus to attend another event, which I will get to shortly, Elijah joined Sarah and Kathryn in Paris, France for the premiere.
Here’s a video of their presentation at the premiere, chaos on the carpet, and this lovely little short.
Before SXSW and Paris, press junkets were released from Deadline Hollywood, Noovie, IGN, IMDb, The Backstage Experience, and Fandango.
All of these videos are just the tip of the iceberg. I recommend searching for more on YouTube and Instagram, as there are too many to link here. Just beware of the A.I. slop that’s prominent on those sites. They’re awful.
The movie opened on March 20th. I was in theaters, and it did not disappoint. It was just as fun and bloody as the first. Everyone did a fantastic job. Elijah was captivating throughout, and I could have done with a little more screentime for his character. Still, it’s a great follow-up. Here are some reviews from Roger Ebert, Den of Geek, and Film Threat.
Plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from Ready or Not 2 was posted over the past couple of months, which I avoided until I saw the movie. If spoilers don’t bother you, here are two great BTS shorts featuring Elijah. [BTS1] [BTS2]
Hold on, there’s more! Wonderfully incisive interviews in March have been released from The Times, Men’s Health, and The Washington Post – a couple with amazing new photos, that just had to find a home in A&F’s interview section.
With all of this going on, Elijah was convention-bound. First, there was MegaCon Orlando.
Here is the full panel from the boys, as well as the panel with Elijah, Liv Tyler, John Rhys-Davies, and a special appearance by the head team from Weta Workshop. This was also the con where breakfast was served up… at least they served the croissants.
And then there was Planet Comic Con, which was held this past weekend in Kansas City.
Wooden Wisdom had a stint in Orlando directly after the convention. There was a gig in Kansas City in the middle of that convention, and two more coming in April. While there are a few photos, I’m going to lump the events together in the next recap so I can have one less thing to do with this one.
I’ve been avoiding mentioning whether Elijah will return as Frodo in The Hunt for Gollum simply because there still hasn’t been official word, even from Elijah, despite what some hack sites have reported. But in The Times article, he stated that he wouldn’t want anyone else to portray the character. If Frodo indeed appears in the film, that would mean only Elijah will play him, and I’ll leave it at that.
However, it is confirmed that Kate Winslet will be in the film, but there is no word on which character she will portray. Also, LOTR aficionado Stephen Colbert will pen yet another film in the franchise.
Something not fresh but certainly new, SpectreVision’s interview with filmmaker James Wan during the Sundance Film Festival is now available.
This heavily laden recap will end with one of the more fun videos Elijah was a part of. For this Video of the Month, he and Sarah compare snacks from Britain and America.
Whew! That’s all… for now.
