The best way to get through the abundance of happenings over the past six weeks is to recount them as chronologically as possible.
First was Fantastic Fest, where Elijah and Ant Timpson were on hand to present Bookworm. Team SpectreVision was in the mix, live recording an episode of Visitations and presenting their new film, Ebony and Ivory.

A week later, Bookworm opened in select theaters and on-demand in the US. Since its debut at Fantasia Fest in August, the film has held steady on Rotten Tomatoes at 90% fresh or better. Filled with anticipation, I finally got to watch it, and it’s an absolute delight for all ages. The film has also been picked up for distribution across Europe. Congrats to all involved! You can read one of the glowing reviews here.
The final convention stop of this recap was this past weekend with Elijah and Billy at Winnipeg Comic Con:

Dipping back a bit, here is a highlights video from DragonCon’s Q&A, and a quickie table-side Q&A.
But wait… there’s more!
Guess who’s going to be a villain again? Yes, fans are buzzing that Elijah is the voice of Dr. Jonathan Crane, AKA Scarecrow, in the new Batman Arkham Shadow VR game. Here’s Elijah making the announcement himself as well as a snippet from his motion capture work, and a couple of behind the scenes images. [1] [2]

A full trailer and poster were released for the upcoming film, The Monkey.
With the 10th anniversary of the debut of Over the Garden Wall, a lot of exciting things are happening. There will be a stop animation short from Cartoon Network on YouTube on Sunday, November 3rd, so keep your eyes peeled. Also, there is a gallery opening of OTGW artworks. The Read and Listen book as well as the For Sarah tape where Elijah… I mean, Wirt recites poetry and plays the clarinet, are both being re-released. You can pre-order these collectibles over at Mutant. Also, there’s a livestream running over on YouTube.
The music of Over the Garden Wall is an entity in and of itself. Earlier this week, The Blasting Company, the band responsible for the soundtrack, held a special show, and Elijah appeared in Wirt attire to sing “Like Ships,” and to read some poetry. Here is a collection of short clips from that show.
A second concert was live-streamed, including another performance from Elijah with more songs and poetry. A few photos are uploaded from both concerts, and a pre-show playlist of songs can be found on Spotify.
If you’re wondering how beloved Over the Garden Wall is, check out Mondo’s collection of goods. Unfortunately, they are completely sold out. But don’t worry. They’re hoping to restock later in the year. The only thing missing from all these delightful things is a video game. Are you listening Patrick McHale and SpectreVision?
SpectreVision has an engaging new episode of Visitations perfect for Halloween, with the one and only Cassandra Peterson, better known as Elvira. You can just sense the elation and admiration Elijah and Daniel had during this particular podcast.
It was recently announced that SpectreVision is teaming with A24 Films to help produce director Kyle Edward Ball’s (Skinamarink) next horror film, The Land of Nod. You can read more here.
Elijah and Daniel held a gathering for some tales of real-life spooky stories on Halloween Eve. Hopefully, there will be some media from this event for the next recap.
And finally, if you missed the concerts for Over The Garden Wall, the Video of the Month will give you a taste of what they were like. Recorded seven years ago, there is the music and singing, but no Elijah or the other original performers. Still, it’s an excellent watch for any fan of the series.
Whew! That’s all… for now, and Happy Halloween!
